Eggs ah-la M/W…
Eggs Ah La … M/W
You`ve no idea how very much I miss my dear wife. This morning being Sunday, I decided on having a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast. Thing is, having to boil that sauce-pan-full of water, which takes an age, really put me off. So I took a more modernistic approach, surely the micro-wave oven could oblige? Yep! Looking through the recipes in the handbook, there was indeed a method in which you can boil eggs in the M/W.
It seems that all is required is a small hole drilled at both ends of the egg with a small sharp object, or a watchmakers screwdriver. My heart took wings, I had the very thing in my tool box.
The operation turned out a success. The eggs I had bought were XL. types, and no problem to do the necessary operation. Adjusting the heat to half power, I programmed two and a half minutes on the clock, and hit enter!
I just love that soft whirring sound as the M/W does its job……it all happened in a flash!
“Sssssssssssphut!” The two eggs were done….and deposited neatly on the walls and the glass window of the M/W. Those lovely deep orange yokes of a free-range chicken hung suspended for a moment before gradually sliding down the window pane. The white part was duly scattered within the M/W`s cavernous interior.
“Oh Lord,” I thought. “I`ll have to eat breakfast in the kitchen.”
Grabbing my piece of buttered toast in one hand, and my tea-spoon in the other, I started breakfast in the most unusual way. Yep! I scraped every morsel of egg off the window…down, in and around the interior of the M/W until every scrap had been eaten. No waste in this house…EVER.
I don`t think the Missus would have approved, but at a guess, I bet she giggled quite a bit over the incident. After all, she knew me for what I am for thirty seven years….
